lance mcclain lovemail
i really hate voltron but god i love lance mcclain with every fiber of my being. like i don't think love even covers what i feel for him. to me, there is literally no one more perfect in the world. this is silly considering he is fictional and i'm aware of that but lance is truly my biggest comfort character and i'd give up everything for him (not that he'd even let me).
lance is truly such a selfless person. he gives so much to other people without so much as a second thought. he is always quick to be a shoulder to cry on and even put himself in physical danger in order to save someone else's life (coran, in the explosion for example). lance is not only selfless but so trusting and kind. he would do anything for his comrades and expects nothing in return.
i love how goofy he is. his humor can be vulgar and a little sexual but that's how i like it. he's so fucking funny and lighthearted but he knows exactly when he has to be serious and it just. makes my heart hurt. he's so emotionally available and ready to give everything for everyone
lance is just. very people oriented. i admire that greatly. his love for his family is so big and while he struggled with homesickness at first i deeply admire the way he was able to overcome that on his own. he learns to become more perceptive and it shows in the way he loved allura with his entire heart and gave her everything he could, even while she was struggling that badly. it was, and this is a little stupid, hard to watch.
not only is he involved with the people around him, but he is incredibly intelligent and ambitious. he wanted to be a fighter pilot! i don't care about the "dumb" jokes because lance is NOT. he may act stupid and silly but the calculations and the plans he comes up with on the fly are unthinkable. the way he takes the leadership role is flawless and he was deprived of that development. maybe he was a cargo pilot but he was the garrison's first choice in replacing keith, the top fighter pilot in the entire academy... that position would not just go to anybody. the garrison is a nationally renown school and for lance to have worked himself into that school itself should show how smart he is. he also picked up the controls for flying the blue lion very quickly.
his development in terms of maturity and insecurities as the show goes on is so good. while i dislike that he lost his a bit of his silliness (i'm going to choose to ignore that) he did begin to see his own worth instead of thinking of himself of a shadow of keith; he stopped seeing keith as a rival and begin to see him as a teammate. as a result, he stopped trying to be someone he wasn't and honed his own abilities which is something i also really look up to him for. he can also be objective, even if something may upset him. when blue took to allura he offered to step down for the greater good. in his mind, in the long run, allura's quick adaptability would have proven much more beneficial than his own erratic flying. i keep saying this but he is so admirable for thinking like this. even while he is in a place of confusion and insecurity he's still thinking about the bigger picture which can be difficult when you are upset about something. it's obvious in this situation that he puts a lot of thought behind big decisions like this.
lance is also so comfortable in himself. i love that like toxic masculinity who.. he does face masks!! skin care KING he takes such good care of himself i just love it so much.
i am so bitter about how badly he was treated by the showrunners. i won't ever forgive them for introducing lance as the protagonist. he was written as an ambitious poc boy and yet, did not get the development he deserved to. he was still the brunt of many jokes, too many, when he is, and perhaps i'm biased in saying this, the character with the most potential. like i said before, he was so ambitious! and did not deserve the farmer ending he got. that really was the stupidest shit i've ever seen. if he wanted to be a fucking farmer he would've been one in the first place. lm and jds really introduced a million lance arcs and developed absolutely none of them. he was done so dirty and that's that.
anyways yeah i'm in love with lance
go back?
